Regxta Global Services Limited, headquartered in Lagos, has successfully disbursed over ₦10 billion in loans to micro-business owners and individuals across Nigeria. This achievement marks a significant milestone in the company’s efforts to expand financial access for borrowers who typically lack conventional credit histories.

Traditional lending models often require formal identification, documented income, collateral, and a history of borrowing, criteria that many small enterprises and informal sector borrowers cannot meet. To overcome these barriers, Regxta has engineered a credit model that utilises alternative customer data alongside a field agent network to assess creditworthiness.

Innovative lending platform enhances credit access

Since its launch in October 2023, Regxta’s digital lending platform has facilitated more than 100,000 loans and onboarded approximately 35,000 customers. The platform integrates customer verification, loan application, approval, and disbursement processes into one real-time digital system. This represents a major advancement from the company’s previous manual loan management, providing immediate visibility into loan portfolio performance and enabling early detection of repayment issues.

Building credit history for underserved borrowers

The lending system focuses on clients who lack traditional credit files or collateral by building a financial record based on their repayment behavior. Each successful loan repayment contributes data that the company uses to better evaluate subsequent credit applications. This approach supports financial inclusion by allowing many micro-business operators to establish creditworthiness over time.

Growth and impact on Nigeria’s informal sector

Regxta’s monthly lending volume has increased dramatically from ₦10,000 in the first month of operation to over ₦650 million in 2026, with more than 4,000 loans processed each month. This scale-up provides a diversified pool of repayment data from borrowers traditionally excluded from formal financial systems, strengthening the lender’s capacity to make informed credit decisions.

Besides lending, Regxta offers savings, payments, and digital banking services, reinforcing its commitment to supporting financial activities of individuals and small businesses often marginalized by conventional banks.

Significance for Nigerian micro-businesses

This development is critical for Nigeria, where access to credit remains a major constraint for small-scale entrepreneurs and informal businesses. By leveraging technology and alternative data, Regxta enhances financial inclusion and supports economic growth by facilitating capital availability to sectors that drive local economies but have been historically underserved.
